You Need to Update These Google Apps Right Now

Google has issued a warning that older versions of some of its apps will stop working in a few months. Anyone running older versions of Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides will have to upgrade to newer versions in order to keep using the apps.
Google Drive and its fellow G Suite apps, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, are insanely popular. Millions of people use these apps on a daily basis, whether at home or at work, and across various platforms, including Android and iOS.Apple vs. Android: Buy the Ecosystem, Not the Gadget Apple vs. Android: Buy the Ecosystem, Not the GadgetYou love your Android phone and want to buy a tablet. However, despite this popularity, not everyone is running the latest versions of these apps. Which wouldn’t normally be a problem, except that Google is now shutting down older versions.

These Apps Will Stop Working Soon

The following versions of Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides for Android and iOS will shut down on April 3, 2017:
For Android:
  • Google Drive for Android (prior to version 2.4.311)
  • Google Docs for Android (prior to version 1.6.292)
  • Google Sheets for Android (prior to version 1.6.292)
  • Google Slides for Android (prior to version 1.6.292)
For iOS:
  • Google Drive for iOS (prior to version 4.16)
  • Google Docs for iOS (prior to version 1.2016.12204)
  • Google Sheets for iOS (prior to version 1.2016.12208)
  • Google Slides for iOS (prior to version 1.2016.12203)
In preparation for the shutdown, Google will begin prompting anyone running these soon-to-be-obsolete versions of the apps to upgrade from March 1, 2017.

Are You Unable to Upgrade?

Some people will have failed to stay up-to-date with these apps out of sheer laziness. While others may be unable to upgrade to the latest versions because of hardware constraints. The former can simply upgrade when prompted to do so. However, the latter may not have that option.Buying A New Smartphone? How To Understand The Hardware Specs Buying A New Smartphone? It should be noted that this shutdown will not affect corresponding web and desktop applications, which will continue functioning as normal.
